VANCOUVER + TOFINO, BRITISH COLUMBIA
It’s honestly a shame that a flight from Montreal to Van is the same price as a flight to Europe and it makes me weep when I see inter-EU flight prices and/or domestic US flight prices.
NEVERTHELESS, Van is a place I love to visit and have joined Ash every time he had business out there.
STAY (VANCOUVER)
Sheraton Wall Street
The rooftop suite is amazing. Central location.
Fairmont Pacific Rim
Love this hotel because it’s by the water and you can see the seaplanes take off and land.
Sutton Place
Older hotel in terms of decor, but a solid, central hotel (close to main shopping area).
STAY (TOFINO)
The Cabins at Terrace Beach
This is actually in Ucluelet, but it’s close to Tofino and it’s less expensive than staying right on the beach in Tofino. Still has a waterfront and it’s gorgeous.
EAT (VANCOUVER)
Chambar
One of my faves in Van — dark wood, dimmed lights, amazing food and drink, laid-back crowd. The tajine d'Aziz à l'agneau which included braised lamb shank, honey, figs, cinnamon, cilantro, and almond couscous is one of my fave dishes.
Nelson the Seagull
They make bread for a lot of other restaurants, so I like going straight to the source.
33 Acres Brewing Co
Far, but good for breakfast.
Nemesis Coffee
Olive + Ruby Coffee
Ramen Danbo
It was atop the list of Eater Vancouver's Top 10 Try Before You Die Ramen, and it lived up to the expectations. I had the classic Tonkotsu Pork Broth ramen. Totally worth the 30-minute wait in the rain.
PiDGiN
Got kicked out at 9 pm lol but such is Van sleepy life. French takes on Asian cuisine — good, good, good.
Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar
If you’re a big party, the seafood towers are yum!
Di Beppe
One of my faves in Van — solid Italian spot and I loooove their pasta.
Minami
Sushi — but more upscale
Sushi Maki
Cheap, good sushi
Cafe Medina
Best breakfast skillets.
EAT (TOFINO)
Tacofino
A must, but be ready for a lineup.
Wolf in the Fog
An experience, upscale and worth it.
Zoe’s Bakery and Cafe
DO
Eastside Flea
Shopping in Gastown
Used to like it more, now it’s quite touristy.
Vancouver Seawall/Stanley Park
Kitsilano Beach
Granville Island
I like going on the weekend when they have markets.
Drive to Whistler
Even if you’re not a skiier, I’d recommend driving up there and spending a night — it’s a gorgeous, scenic drive and Whistler’s not too shabby
Joffre Lakes
There are so many hikes you can do, but I’m putting this one here because I think it’s a rather easy one to do. If you’re into something more challenging, Grouse Grind, Black Tusk and many more are available to you.
