MEXICO CITY, MEXICO
The most underrated city I’ve been to in a while — read on for my LURVE of CDMX! The only comment I’ll make is… WHERE ARE THE POOLS IN CDMX?
I also found the food to be delicious and fine + affordable… I think our most expensive dinner was under $500 CAD (for 5 people) and we had a bottle of wine, cocktails and ate tons. Toronto could never.
This trip was a surprise for KJ’s birthday… and WHAT A FUN way to spend time with people you love!!
STAY
Air BnB
The Four Seasons Mexico City is gorgeous, but we were a group of 5, so we opted for a 3-bed, 3-bath Air BnB that was super spacious.
Key areas to stay in: Roma Note, Condessa, Anzures
EAT
Botánico
Gorgeous terrace — loved the fresh salads
Salazar
Beautiful rooftop terrace — best to go around sunset
Hugo
Wine bar — very East Village vibes, cute for a post-dinner drink
Blanco Colima
Hands down my favourite restaurant in CDMX — service was impeccable and the food divine. + they offer a bunch of traditional dishes that come with the meal
Pigeon
Good, closes early, so best for an early dinner
Don’t @ me, that caesar salad lives rent-free in my head
Handshake Speakeasy
SO FUN — best original cocktails (from someone’s who’s meh about cocktails lol). It won #2 best bar in North America… so I’d visit before it gets too “mainstream” if you can!
Rosetta
Everyone had mentioned this restaurant before we made our way down to Mexico… and with reason. The outdoor spaces of the restaurants are beautiful and the food is great. I really appreciated the traditional ingredients used. LOVED the chicatana ant butter and mole :)
Ciena
Lardo
Entremar
Really, really loved the fresh seafood here — I wanted to go to Contramar, but couldn’t get a reservation… so opted for Entremar, the sister restaurant, and it didn’t disappoint
Taboo
Very Tulum-like night club vibes
Meroma
Great Italian!
Santos
Ritz-Carlton rooftop — beautiful for a night cap and dessert!
DO
Tequila/Mezcal tasting
Museums, museums, museums!
Walk around
Take Ubers
So cheap and plenty of drivers
